The Wonder Women movement was created by Toronto based singer-songwriter, and producer, Arlene Paculan of LMG Productions in order to showcase female artists while raising funds and awareness for women’s organizations. While on a trip to Los Angeles, Paculan met with Los Angeles artist & activist April Snow at a local open mic. Inspired by the Wonder Women movement, Snow began working with Paculan to bring Wonder Women to Los Angeles.
On September 7th, 2014 at the world famous Arcadia Blues Club, over a dozen female artists came together and performed sets of original music, poetry, and comedy, with a beautiful backdrop created by local visual artists. The energy was wonderful, the room was packed, and the event was so inspiring that we have decided to make this an annual event. We are in the planning stages for WWLA 2015. Details coming soon!
The aims of Wonder Women Los Angeles are: to spread empowerment and positive self-esteem to women through art, to inspire creativity and collaboration between women, and to create a supportive environment and community for women in the arts.
